Any questions?

Next week I'm going to interview the BBC's environment correspondent. Is there anything you'd like to ask him?

Next week I’m going to be interviewing David Shukman, who has worked as BBC TV’s environment and science correspondent since 2003. We'll hopefully cover his life in news and his new book Reporting live from the end of the world out in April and everything else we can squeeze into an hour. He’s had quite a career, initially reporting from the front line of conflicts in Afghanistan and Bosnia before switching to environmental issues, and interviewing people ranging from Norwegian whalers to Brazilian soya barons. Are there questions you’d like to ask him? If so, please send me an email on olivia@geographical.co.uk and I’ll try to put them to him when I meet him on the 25th January.

Poland, Denmark and the Russian government newspaper Smolensk crash with the earth's crust and associated seismic activity. The latitude, Denmark, Lake Baikal, Kamchatka Peninsula has seismic. Attention to the Danish weather disasters. Norway plane crash and earthquake early, marine oil spill is in this sense. Crash is a typical precursor. Note abnormal marine life and social unrest outbreak. Smolensk is not necessarily a disaster area. In the event of disasters may be a long time has passed, but the local rivers along the Black Sea in Ukraine will also be a small earthquake or plane crash. Smolensk the future will prove that the natural dynamic nature of the crash of significance. Kamchatka Peninsula, the crash took place two days ago. The recent major earthquake in the world have forecast to the United Nations and local newspapers www.shaodl.com/sspl8.

Is David Shukman, on behalf of the BBC, ashamed of the reports by BBC environment correspondents in the mid 90s (such as Margaret Gilmore et al) which claimed that depleted reservoirs and dried river beds were here to stay, because man had messed up the weather? How wrong could they have been!!! Will we ever get a "sorry"??

Can you ask him the following Does he agree with the following three-fold classification of science, as promulgated by his colleague Roger Harrabin - 1.Is it possible to have a 'settled science'? If so could he give an example of any science he believes to be 'settled'? 2.Can any consensus (of scientists or politicians or social workers etc.) in any sense guarantee truth? Can he think of any examples where this is not the case? Why, in his opinion, might some claim that conflict, not consensus, is the motor of truth? 3.Are there any dangers in his opinion arising from the sociology of scientific institutions for the independence of science – for example the process of 'peer review'? If so, what might these be? Further to these considerations, I'd like you (if you can) to move him on to the business of the difference between what is said and claimed about the earth (i.e. in representations such as Maths and Physics etc.) , and the earth as it actually is. Can any theory (about any subject whatever) actually capture the 'essence' of the world, and thus become complete? Isn't it truer to admit we know very little, and that consequently speculation about what will happen in fifty years time is invariably, unrelentingly wrong? (See for example the collected works of Paul R Erlich for embarrassing examples)

I rather expect that Mr Shukman will fall back on the defence that the overwhelming majority of climate scientists believe in man made global warming. However, does he not admit that the so-called consensus really depends upon a handful of zealots, whose names everyone with an interest in the topic knows? They have been responsible for the atmosphere of hysteria, accusation and fear that has so besmirched science.

Do you believe that the BBC have been sufficiently rigorous iin asking about global warming, in distinguishing between "climate change" which has been going on since the Earth had an atmosphere & "catatstrophic anthropogenic global warming/climate change" which is the only sort we can or should be concerned about stopping?

The problem with correspondents is that it is only human for them to have their own agenda. David Shukman is no exception. He will not be happy knowing his beliefs are wrong BUT there is no one as fervent as a convert so if he is now realising that AGW is a myth we might see sparks fly.

The divergence issue. How can a proxy set be considered accurate when it fails over approx 50% of the temperature data over the past 120 years? If the proxy sets are unreliable then the MWP has not been refuted and the warming trend in the latter half of the 20th century would not be considered outside of the normal climate variations. This would effectively kill anthropogenic warming. See some of Richard Lindzen's comments on this topic.

When will the BBC be more critical of the AGW propaganda. ie the copenhagen conference opeining video. clips shown repeatedly, UNCRITICALLY of the lack of science.. The IPCC says, 59cm sea level rise (or a unconfirmed 2m) by 2100. That by their own (disputed) figures can not possibly justify CGI images of tidal waves engulfing the land and small children. This scared my children and is only used to close down debate. (less 6mm a year, is hardly a tidal wave) They MUST be critical of the blatant propaganda. Like when the former greenpeace leader got caught out, making up artic free of ice by 2030.

Does the BBC now accept that it crossed the line between journalism and advocacy in its climate reporting? Does it agree that it was too credulous and uncritical, and that the BBC's reputation for objectivity has been compromised?

How about "given that the BBC's staff pension fund is heavily committed to green investment, do you think it's possible for people to trust your reporting of environmental issues? Does he think that the fund should divest itself of these investments? If not, why not?

Why not just withdraw your request for an imterview with this misanthropic, Malthusian mother, so his arguments are not heard? This would draw a consistent parallel with the bias the bbc has applied to its Lysenkoist reportatge of science. By refusing to give post normal, zombie science a platform to air, the deep green environmentalism so cherished by the bbc you would be making a bold statement in support of genuine scientific endeavour that endorses the appropriate role of science in society and how it is communicated. Do the right thing, cancel.

How can the BBC square it’s green credentials with a rapidly increasing use of live reporting from any and all parts of the planet? Does TV have the right to gratuitously create CO2 showing people things that they already have stock footage of? Is entertainment or news a more deserving source of CO2 than farming, industry or tourism? Do you think carbon offsets absolves the BBC from actually achieving CO2 reduction? Is the BBC making meaningful reductions in their own CO2 and if not does that reduce the impact of any climate change message they might endorse? Might the BBC and the public be better able to knuckle down to the hardships of CO2 reduction if the science was more convincing?

What is the BBC policy regarding balanced covereage of "climate change" ? It is difficult to resolve the BBC's supposed unbiased reporting ( IAW it's charter) with the uncritical following of the " Company line" as exhibited by Messr's Black and Harribin. In fact , both RH and RB have demonstrated unfailing belief in AGW , without examining both sides of the published science.

The BBC have a duty to be equitable when it comes to controversial subjects. However when it comes to the climate warming controversy, they have thrown that out of the window. Apparent a secret cabal of scientists have advised them that they should be biased towards global warming. Will the BBC stop hiding the names of these scientists and their advice? Nick

There has been a lot of talk about "deniers" who are funded by "Big Oil" and other suspicious groups, but that's old news. Has he ever interviewed any of the "skeptics" or "lukewarmers" who have published peer-reviewed work that challenges the theory of man-made global warming? I'd love a bit of in-depth reporting on some of the characters who are making the science of global warming so interesting!
