On Mount Etna’s southern slopes a microcosm of old buildings and gardens has been transformed into a charming holiday complex. Quiet and secluded, Borgopetra is like an island in the ancient urban setting of a small town at the foot of the volcano and is the fruit of a painstaking renovation to restore the listed 18th century family seat. Grouped around a large square courtyard like houses on a tiny piazza the four independent holiday homes host a maximum of 18 guests. The breakfast of Sicilian specialties is served under the antique vault in the dining room, the pool is in the orchard and the gym is in the ancient puppet theatre. Borgopetra’s mission is Mount Etna. Its strategical location and the owners’ intimate knowledge of the surrounding area make it the ideal base for exploring Eastern Sicily.
