Award for climate scientist

One of the first scientists to recognise the threat of global climate change has been awarded the WWF's Duke of Edinburgh Conservation Medal. Dr James Hansen, head of NASA Institute for Space Studies, has been studying the Earth's climate since the 1970s. In 1988, his testimony to US congressional committees helped to raise awareness of climate change and bring the concept of the greenhouse effect to a broader audience.
